Malta – Bella – Is quite tasteful.
Malta takes a different direction this year and instead of the cheap pop song they have sent in the last couple of years, they are sending a ballad which is quite endearing and done in a tasteful way. The whole song gives me a nostalgic vibe of a song from a movie from the 40’s or 50’s when things seemed simpler than they are today. The song is simple but has a rich sound. The violins in the orchestration are here to make you feel the emotions and it all works very well. He even managed to sneak some text in Maltese, which is, as far as I know, the first time Maltese is performed on a Eurovision stage.
The performance during the national final, takes its queue from Barbara Parvi’s performance of Voilà(France 2021) and just fits the song. It’s not over done and is here to help the song. I can only hope that Malta won’t be tempted to overblown the performance as it doesn’t need that.
Keep it simple, Malta and you have gold in your hands.
As you can understand, I quite like what Malta has on offer for 2026’s contest.
My marks – 10 points
