Phil’s Eurovision Countdown 2026 – Part Thirty – San Marino

Now, a Euroqueen of a certain age would, unkindly, think that Superstar in a Eurovision sense would mean this :

Which is clearly NOT Twenty..fucking…years ago as I have just been reminded whilst writing this, thanks John, that’s our friendship well and truly out of the window.

And it’s not even this either :

So what the fuck is it then? – Well it’s a song, certainly, sung by Sehit and we know that for her, values of Sung could mean anything, with additional backing vocals by Boy George and he is here in Vienna so I am given to understand so that gives this song added kudo because boy it needs it.

It is a very generic pop song that won a Ponzi scheme of a national final on the back of her name and Euros alone.  If you put it on you could swear you were in Gothenburg or Malmo in mid February because it has that unmistakable smell of Scandinavia about it, not a surprise when you see who wrote it.   It’s a cookie cutter cut and paste bit of pop music which actually isn’t very good – but the addition of Boy George could well give it votes that it does not deserve.

It’ll qualify because the ironic gayz think it should do and it’ll be a shame if it gets a better result than Serhat has done ever for San Marino.

Phil’s Score – 2 points
