Pray – Alicija
Aficionados of BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue are clearly familiar with the round entitled “one song to the tune of another”. Here is, however, a living example that this round can be held in real life!
It starts off well enough, with a good gospel bit of the song at the start which, for a brief moment flatters to deceive and I expected it to go fully down this hitherto unexplored avenue of Eurovision but imagine my shock when it then morphs into about three more different songs as it meanders its way to it’s end which, and lets not make any bones about it here, not coming fast enough. I get she was robbed by the pandemic of a far far better song, but it doesn’t mean that when she was clearly the one TVP chose, they or her or her songwriters had to saddle her with this donkey!
It doesn’t know what it wasn’t to be and ends up being a pile of nothing. Apologies to all the Poles that are probably dashing off hate mail to this site as we speak – but if you wanted an opinion to match your own, this is not the place for that – you should know that by now!
Phil’s Score – 2 Points
