Amaury Vassili ISN’T going to win the Eurovision Song Contest, and I am going to explain why.
It IS everything you thought it would be: an internationally renowned performer singing a faux-opera aria at you for three minutes, with a good voice, performance and stagecraft.
What it is not is that thing called a “televoter sponge”. I can’t imagine, for a second, real people in the world (and not fans) thinking that this is the best song on the night and picking up the phone to vote for it.
I can imagine the juries being “instructed” to vote for a song like this, and I will concede that it is going to be pretty high up there. But the lack of televotes is going to present a problem for it winning, I suspect.
