Denmark – Før Vi Går Hjem – Is not a safe choice.
Denmark, known for its safe, middle of the road choices for Eurovision has chosen a song in Danish and kept it in that language. Which is not a safe or obvious choice. The last time they sent a song in Danish was in 2021. Which was a bit outdated and failed to qualify.
This one is something quite different to the 2021’s effort. It has some good energy to it and although in Danish, it remains in your head. I think his voice just fits the song and the performance during the national final feels just right. Subtle and not overdoing it.
It’s a song I can see playing during the end credit, at the winner’s reprise. The juries will hear and see a good pop song, performed well. The televoters will be drawn to the energy on display and to the catchiness of the chorus. Well done Denmark.
