Montenegrin Vanja Inje house (sorry!) in a very loud and dazzling turquoise and white textured asymmetrical suit which is something you don’t see every day. He has the haircut of a schoolboy but the face of someone a few decades beyond school days. The styling is a little off for this but I actually think the staging is pretty good.Â
He’s accompanied by four backing singers/dancers in white dresses and a pianist stage left. The dancers freeze their positions before moving momentarily and surround him with some simple but dramatic choreography. The lighting is effective here and the long shots well timed for the big moments in the song. I’m liking this staging a lot and it’s lifting what was an average Balkan ballad into something a little more dramatic. I’m still worried for its chances next Thursday though.Â
