Why this matters: Malta resets after 2025

After Miriana Conte carried Malta to the Eurovision 2025 final with “Serving,” the spotlight now turns to how the island picks its next contender.

Malta remains one of Eurovision’s most dedicated participants — yet despite decades of competing, the country has never won.

MESC 2026 will again blend jury and public voting, a balancing act aimed at selecting an act that resonates locally and has enough polish to stand out at the broader European contest.

For Malta, MESC remains more than a national contest — it’s a chance to forge a Eurovision identity, perhaps one that can finally break the “never-won” streak. With MESC 2026 set for January, and Eurovision 2026 in Vienna looming, the next few weeks will be crucial.
