Georgia doing Georgian things – Part 892?!

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Georgia has only gone and done it: Bzikebi are back in the Eurovision bubble, this time graduating from the kids’ table to the main course in Vienna 2026. The song isn’t out yet, but Georgia clearly fancies a bit of nostalgic chaos on the big stage.

So, who are Bzikebi again?

A Georgian trio – Giorgi Shiolashvili, Mariam Tatulashvili and Mariam Kikuashvili – best known for buzzing their way to victory at Junior Eurovision 2008.They sang “Bzz” in a made-up language, dressed as bees, and still walked off with Georgia’s first JESC win and an album, “Zabuzei”, to boot.

How did we end up here?

Broadcaster GPB skipped the faff of a national final and picked Bzikebi internally for Eurovision 2026, clearly banking on name recognition and a bit of retro charm.  They’re slotted into the first half of Semi-Final 1 in Vienna, at what will be the 70th Eurovision Song Contest.  Unbeknonst to us, they trailed the group at this year’s Junior Eurovision that you all watched, yes?

What about the song?

Well….there is no song yet – at least not for public consumption – with GPB promising a reveal further down the line. Until then, all anyone really knows is that Georgia has gone for a bold nostalgia play, the adults in the room won’t know who they are cos they don’t watch Junior – those of us that do are hoping for something grown up.
