It’s a curious thing. Every year many songwriters enter a song that think is the best thing written in recent times. A number of them get lucky and their song wins through the bunfight of a national final, or an internal selection. But then some songs develop a head of steam and some never really get going.
In other news, today’s birthday girl მარიამ შენგელია/Mariam Shengalia and her song were chosen internally by GPB. She had form in singing contests so was a safe pair of hands. But when fans talked of songs they didn’t seem to mention Mariam. It was perhaps no surprise when she got stuck in her semi-final. But five countries did have her in their top ten
Mariam is 24 today.
