As you’ll know, we’re starting to get more performers and writers at our favourite TV show that were born after 1 January 2000. Yes, the 21st Century is starting to rule the roost now. Soon, every winner will be a 21st Century-er.

Today’s birthday girl Teya (née Теодора Шпирић/Teodora Å pirić), as you’ll know, partnered up with Salena and sang about an American poet. Like you do. Was that chorus very catchy (like cholera) or what? Their little song was definitely a fan favourite in Liverpool’s fair city. Opening the Grand Final was always going to put them at a disadvantage – especially as they were runners-up in their semi – and it was odd that after storming the televote on that Thursday night, the vast majority of their Saturday night points came from juries. Maybe the televoters suddenly took a strong dislike to anything American. Because that sort of thing can happen.

Teya is 25 today.
