This week in Eurovision – 13 February 2026

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It’s starting to feel more like the ‘on season’ with semifinals-a-plenty and from this weekend, a whole bunch of broadcasters pinning their Eurovision colours to the mast. Check out our calendar for details of what’s on when.

First up, a (predictable) but humiliating climb-down by Eurovision organisers. Their much-vaunted Eurovision Live shows, planned for this summer have been cancelled. Reasons for the inability to organise multiple drinks in a brewery have not been given. However, ticket sales for the event (which pretty much re-appropriated fan-developed concerts) are reported to have been far from stellar.

ESC Discord is the place to go if you’d like to hear the songs in the running to represent Austria on home turf in May.

First news from Belgium. RTBF will reveal their pick for representative along with their song on Thursday 19 February at 18:21 CET on La Une.

In Cyprus, local media covered political and cultural reactions around their newly aired song “Jalla”, pretty much like every year. And nothing changed. Prerty much like what happens every year.

In Denmark, DR has shared the running order for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026, taking place tomorrow evening.

In Latvia, LTV has set and published the Supernova 2026 grand final running order; the final follows qualifying heats and will determine Latvia’s Vienna entry.

As we told you last week, Israel has picked its song. But we don’t get to hear it just yet. Noam Bettan’s song is due to air on March 5. Kan’s professional committee listen to four demos recorded by Bettan before deciding. The chosen track is trilingual (Hebrew, French and English) and is described as a stylistic shift away from the ballads Israel has sent the last two years, implying something more upbeat or contemporary. The song has been written by Israel’s 2025 representative Yuval Raphael together with Nadav Aharoni and Tzlil (Tslil) Klifi, with Aharoni and Klifi composing the music and Aharoni producing.

In Romania, TVR has confirmed the full finalist line‑up for “Selecția Națională 2026” following jury‑screened auditions held 9–11 February. Ten songs are through with a wildcard list of five. The most viewed track gets an extra spot in the line-up. The national final will take place on 4 March, with a jury selecting Romania’s Eurovision 2026 act; this final date and decision mechanism are re‑affirmed in the new announcement.

And because it’s Friday, time to preview the latest Swedish songs. The six songs competing in the third heat of Melodifestivalen 2026 are available for your listening enjoyment on the ever-growing ESC Discord playlist:
