We all have a broad range of musical tastes. After all, Eurovision is not all Schlager or ballad. It’s reggae, it’s country & western, it’s dubstep. It’s also about that heavier style of rock more liked in northern and central Europe than elsewhere. Our friends in Slovakia have a love/hate relationship with the contest, possibly because their not ‘fashionable’ enough. Or maybe very experimental. Their swansong to date is that heavy metal sound, sung by Miroslav Šmajda, who uses the stage name Max Jason Mai. He sadly didn’t do well, but you have to admire him for trying. Max is 26 today.
