A rock song sung by a rock singer. Slovakia’s 2012 representative was Max Jason Mai, the stage name of Slovak singer Miro (Miroslav) Šmajda, performing “Don’t Close Your Eyes”. The song was selected internally by Slovak broadcaster RTVS and formally presented on 7 March 2012.
Don’t think it has a hope in hell of qualifying though.
And, as it turned out, I was right. At the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Slovakia performed 15th in the second semi-final on 24 May 2012. “Don’t Close Your Eyes” finished 18th and last, with 22 points, and did not qualify for the Grand Final.
