Rasmussen next up with his Viking ‘cut and paste’ from the Danish final. It’s IDENTICAL save for the addition of a large white flag waved from the back for the finale and the lack of the swirling cloud backdrop. The white sails are in place either side and the performers are dressed darkly and there’s a fairly impressive snowstorm.
At first I didn’t rate this so much and found the lyrics a little throwaway but as time has passed I’ve grown to really appreciate the melody and staging. It’s dark and blue with lots of sweeping camera shots and of course the marching moments are fairly effective. It’s not going to win the thing but I feel this is strong enough and different enough to be noticed and qualify.
