ONEUROPE: Eurovision Song Contest news
Contests 2018 It’s Alekseev with “Forever” for Belarus

It’s Alekseev with “Forever” for Belarus

Alekseev

Alekseev won the Belarusian national selection for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Forever’. Ten acts competed with the winner being decided by what we’re assured was a 50/50 split of public and jury votes.

Obviously, given this is Belarus, there has to be a hint of controversy. Alekseev performer a Russian-language version of ‘Forever’ at a number of concerts before the Eurovision cut-off date of 1 September 2017. Others taking part in the national selection wrote a letter of protest to the organisers. Sofi Lapina ultimately pulled out in protest.

Those behind the entry insist that the song has been ‘rewritten’ to cover this potential fudge.

Anyway, here it is in all its studio-based goodness. Spoiler alert: it’s not quite as polished live.
