Do you like a cutting edge lyric? Especially one that people who might not be fans would pick up on. It’s a different matter when it’s looked at in context.
The lyric “Ay ay ay ay ay ay…” was actually a bridge between the end of a chorus and the start of the second verse. And it’s when today’s birthday girl Marie N (née Marija Naumova) catches the eye of some young lady. It’s all very progressive and that might be why this song won. Ms N had tried to represent her country previously with arguably better songs. But a winner’s a winner.
