We like to celebrate big birthdays here not that lesser birthdays are less important. But we like to remember our history, and tell everyone that Eurovision isn’t just a 21st Century phenomenon.
Today’s birthday girl Dori Ghezzi might not be best known for being a singer. To our Italian followers at least. In 1979, she and her partner was kidnapped by Sardinian gangsters and held captive in the mountains of the island for four months! They were only released on payment of a ransom. Anyways, in 1975 she did her thing with the late Wesley ‘Wess’ Johnson and came third behind those pesky Dutch and British.
Dori is 80 today.
