Birthdays 21 December – There’s no denying all the heartaches

21 December – There’s no denying all the heartaches

We’ve often said that for some performers can be a drug. They just can’t get enough. Some start out as the named act, but some build up to it, doing an apprenticeship as a backing singer.

Today’s birthday girl Regína Ósk Óskarsdóttir served her time as a backing vocalist three times, before she paired up with pal Friðrik Ómar as part of the popular duo Euroband/Eurobandið. They were already renowned as a Eurovision tribute act, so it was perhaps only natural they’d get the gig eventually. Theirs was a floorfiller, one that should feature in any Eurovision disco. For those that went to Belgrade, they may still be talking about the Icelandic delegation party even now, which exceeded expectations with its entertainment – Euroband of course. As for the contest, Regína and Friðrik finished 14th. But they’re probably still more popular than some of the 13 who beat them.

Regína is 48 today.

Til hamingju með afmælið, Regína!
