Those Cypriot Buxtons are at it now!

Antigoni will represent Cyprus at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest

Right, so has Cyprus got themselves a proper contender for Vienna? The island nation has officially unveiled Antigoni Buxton (what a great Cypriot family name there) as their Eurovision 2026 representative.

Meet Your Cypriot Champion

Let’s be honest – if you know Antigoni from Love Island, you might not be the kind of people that read OnEurope – the sort of reader who has written her off as just another reality TV personality. But here’s where you’d be wrong, this girl is a proper musician with serious credentials. She was born and raised in North London to Greek-Cypriot parents, (that’ll explain the name then) and  studied at the prestigious BRIT School (yes, the same place that produced Adele and Amy Winehouse), and has been writing and performing music for years.

Her musical style is absolutely fascinating – it’s this gorgeous blend of pop, R&B, and Mediterranean influences that just screams authenticity. Think hip-hop beats colliding with bouzouki strings, English lyrics mixing with Greek – basically, the kind of multicultural sound that Eurovision absolutely loves when done right. Her previous tracks like “Long Way Home,” “Never Gonna Love,” “Hit List,” and “Habibi” give you a proper flavour of what she’s bringing.

Apparently she already promised to weave authentic Cypriot phrases and sounds into her Eurovision entry so expect bazaouki, driving beats and anything else Panik Records are good at, either that, or a carbon copy of every Cypriot banger ever.

The Selection Process: No Messing About

Cyprus’s national broadcaster CyBC didn’t leave this to chance. They went for an internal selection process, reaching out to major music labels and scouting top talent from both Greece and Cyprus. Antigoni emerged victorious from a seriously competitive shortlist of eight artists, including Evangelia, Good Job Nicky, Josephine, Katerina Stikoudi, Mikay, Nina Mazani, and George Perris, all of whom I am sure are big in Greece and Cyprus.

As for the song?  Don’t be daft, We still don’t know what the actual track sounds like. CyBC is keeping the song firmly under wraps whilst building the “anticipation” beautifully.  The official reveal will likely be much trumpeted with Antigoni and CyBC keeping their socials pretty active in the meantime and I bet you are salivating at the thought.
