Albania – Alis – Nân

Who said Albania needs just a shouty woman to do well in this contest? Not me that’s for sure! When the Albanian broadcaster decided to launch its competition back in December 2025 who knew that we get an actual man singing about his grandma? He’s not singing about his grandma? Well the song is called nan, so imagine my disappointment when I realise it’s actually about his mother!

In previous years it seems as though the Albanians have run out of ideas. Well this year they’ve decided to take neo from the matrix turn him Albanian get Our lead singer Alis, singing in some sort of Euston station complex in Tirana it’s all very modern and far far too highbrow for the likes of this contest.

Partway through the song he’s surrounded by a bevvy of beauties playing the violin and cello and other instruments and at the end of the song His titular mother, though presumably not his actual one but who knows, appears at the end to chastise her child for not seeing enough of her! They clearly seemed too much of the sitcom “Sorry” and set it to music. Does that make Alis Timothy?

It’s all a bit too futuristic for me
