Last night, she was fine but the backing singers were too loud. However, on the telly in the press centre it looks a whole lot better but she is as flat as Kate Ryan was last night. Man this is cringe worthy television.
It has the potential for getting a big fat zero. I don’t know what they have been doing to the song, but she has fucking killed it and should get life in prison for murdering a decent song.
I think the look on Keith Mills’ face and the “come back Angelina all is forgiven” line tells you how bad it was. It really does sum up the phrase ‘seven shades of shite’ perfectly, and will struggle to pick up votes – even from the French!
Severina had won Croatia’s national selection, Dora 2006, with “Moja štikla”. The song was written by Boris Novković and Franjo Valentić, with lyrics credited to Severina, and its presentation leaned heavily into theatrical Croatian folk-pop staging: male dancers, a costume reveal and, at one point, Severina being lifted by them.
This was written during the Athens contest week, before the final, when Croatia was already qualified under the 2006 rules. The prediction of a zero was spectacularly wrong: performing 20th in the Grand Final on 20 May, Croatia finished 12th with 56 points. Kate Ryan, whose performance provides the comparison above, represented Belgium with “Je t’adore” but failed to qualify from the semi-final.
