This is “literally” the marmite song of this year. Hatari are trying very hard to be a complete juxtaposition or an enigma wrapped in whatever you fancy. Out of costume, they seem to be nice wholesome boys – quite the type that anyone’s mother could love. Their online persona (and the image they portray on Twitter and other social media) has an air of quiet calculation with perfectly placed jibes at authority.
Make no mistake though, Hatari the band is an act and the song is almost secondary to that. It is, in this setting, just a lot of shouty noise and where it ultimately finishes (more than likely either not qualifying or near the bottom of the final if it does) is going to be secondary to their shenanigans that twitter followers have bought hook, line and sling.
