RTVE has today unveiled (at least some of) the artists competing in Benidorm Fest 2026. Benidorm Fest, Spain’s national route to Eurovision, is scheduled for February 2026, with two semi-finals and a grand final. RTVE received a record number of submissions — roughly 870 entries, including 350 on the final day — and plans to announce the selected songs on 18 December.
In a live press event from Prado del Rey, RTVE unveiled a slate of participants for the fifth edition of Benidorm Fest. Those named today were Asha, Atyat, Dani J, Dora & Marlon Collins, Funambulista, Greg Taro, Izan Lluna, Kenneth, Kitai, Ku Minerva, Luna Ki, María León & Julia Medina, Mayo, Mikel Herzog Jr., Miranda! & Baila Mamá, Rosalinda Galán, The Kinkis and Tony Grox & Lucy Calys
Today’s event named 18 acts, some Spanish news outlets insist there will be at least two more, leading to speculation of ongoing negotiations with other artists and record labels. RTVE’s earlier communications state that the number of participants will be between 16 and 20, depending on the quality of proposals.
The ceasefire question — will it change anything?
While RTVE says Benidorm Fest will proceed regardless of Spain’s Eurovision participation, the broadcaster has been unequivocal about its red lines. Earlier this year, RTVE president José Pablo López requested that the EBU open a debate on Israel’s inclusion, citing widespread public unease over the situation in Gaza.
News of a ceasefire in Gaza has revived hopes for diplomatic breakthrough, but in Eurovision circles, hopes of a change of heart appear muted. Several broadcasters that have pledged boycott remain firm in their position regardless of any ceasefire.
Asked whether a truce might alter Spain’s stance, RTVE and government sources have been circumspect — emphasising that the board’s decision reflects a principle, not a temporary reaction.
It’s worth noting, Spanish Culture Minister Ernest Urtasun, while backing the boycott, noted Spain should not “normalise” Israel’s continued presence while the war in Gaza continues. Leaving room for movement if today’s ceasefire news holds.
