You must feel for some Eurovision performers. They do their best and go and win a national final. They follow the whole circus to a city somewhere in the European Broadcasting Area with high hopes. They know they’re going to be judged, as it’s a competition. And they come up short.
One of the unlucky semi-finalists when the circus last rolled into Malmö’s fair city (2024) was today’s birthday girl Saba (aka Anna Saba Lykke Oehlenschlæger). It was almost a home contest for her, and we all know what happened at the previous Malmö contest. Anyway, Saba must have thought her semi-final was very open, so it wouldn’t take much to make the top 10. Only six countries were heading home after all. It did turn out to be close as 9th-12th were all within 10 points of each other. But someone had to finish 12th and that was Saba. At least she got a few days off.
Saba is 28 today.
