It’s only natural that you can’t remember every song that had graced a Eurovision stage. For every Waterloo there’s a [insert song here].
In other news, our friends in Greece and Cyprus often swap singers, and there is of course nothing wrong with that. Remember a certain “home” performance in 2006? Anyway, today’s birthday girl Ανδρομάχη Δημητροπούλου (née Andromache Dimitropoulou) known mononymously, swapped her effective homeland of Greece for Cyprus in 2022. The past 10 contests have seen Aphrodite’s Isle qualify for the Grand Final in most of them. But they don’t have the record of the likes of Ukraine, and and sadly Andromache’s performance is evidence of that. You could argue that hers was better than songs that made it, but there we go. Was she robbed?
Andromache is 31 today.
