Albania’s national broadcaster RTSH reports that more than one hundred artists and songwriters have sent in entries for Festivali i Këngës 64—up from oast year, reflecting both the enduring prestige of the event and renewed belief in its role as a springboard to Eurovision.
While RTSH has long used Festivali i Këngës (often shortened to Fest or FiK) to select the country’s Eurovision representative, the broadcaster is emphasising not just national heritage but also stronger diaspora engagement.
In its public messaging, the broadcaster emphasises a stronger connection with Albanians abroad, and suggests Fest 64 will be more than a domestic event, framing the contest as a cultural anchor for Albanian communities beyond its borders.
A shortlist will follow, RTSH plan to release the names taking part in ‘a few days’. The songs should preview in November, with Festivali i Këngës 64 taking place in late December.
RTSH has not yet disclosed how many finalists will be chosen, exactly when song announcements will begin or how the voting breakdown (jury, televote, diaspora input) will be weighted.
