Long before Yardena Arazi, Lill Lindfors, Toto Cutugno and Sakis Rouvas, a grand dame of the contest not only sang in our favourite TV show, but she also hosted our favourite TV show. Our birthday girl comes from the country that’s participated in the most ESCs and JESCs combined – no mean feat. She participated in 1956, 1957 and 1958, winning at her second attempt. We won’t talk about her time in 1958. And she’s tall. Either that or her violinist buddy is standing in a deep hole. Yes, it’s the one and only Corry Brokken. Corry is 83 today.
