If you were a Eurovision performer (and maybe you are), when would you want to perform in the Grand Final? First, so you can get to the free bar? Last, so the crowd will be nicely warmed up? Or somewhere just before an ad break?
Today’s birthday girl (Holly) Mae Muller got the gig to travel all the way to, erm, Liverpool. And she was last on. She hadn’t performed in a semi-final, so had to wait for months and months and months for three minutes of live stage time late one balmy Saturday evening. And her reward? Twenty-four points and a twenty-fifth place finish. Or was it the other way round? It was unfortunate, and Mae took a sabbatical from music for a while. Maybe she should write a song…
Mae is 29 today.
