Switzerland’s Eurovision 2013 entry, “You And Me”, was performed by Takasa, a six-member Swiss Salvation Army group. It had already attracted attention before Malmö because the line-up included Emil Ramsauer, aged 95 and described by Eurovision’s official channel as the oldest musician to perform in the contest.
Georgia had some modicum of sterile about it. This, however, is how a “love” song should be sung – at least the girl and the bloke actually look at each other. That seems rather important in a song about relationships, unity and shared values, and preferable to looking away from each other, like the Georgians.
Roy says it’ll do a lot better than people think – I tend to agree, but am not sure….. At this stage, after Switzerland’s second rehearsal, it still had to face the second semi-final on Thursday 16 May, where it was drawn second-last in position 16, immediately after Georgia’s “Waterfall”, performed by Nodi Tatishvili and Sophie Gelovani.
It’s not qualifying in my opinion, but hey, what do I know??
Retrospective: Takasa eventually finished 13th of 17 acts in the second semi-final, with 41 points, and did not qualify for the Grand Final. Georgia qualified in 10th place with 63 points – so Roy’s optimism about Switzerland turned out to be misplaced.
