Latvia kicked off its annual Supernova circus tonight — the show that heroically tries, year after year, to remind Europe that the country does, in fact, still exist on the Eurovision map. Heat One rolled around with all the dependable energy of a regional final that’s been through more dry ice than a Baltics wedding.
The Show
Hosts Ketija and Lauris returned with the sort of forced positivity you only get from people paid in exposure and warm studio lighting. Everyone should have their own Lauris though to wheel out at appropriate or inappropriate moments. They’d done it before so they knew what they were supposed to be doing….

As you can clearly see – five of them live to fight another day, seven of them get to come back again and again in years to come in order to try and qualify!
Sound mix? Patchy. Camera cuts? Experimental. Audience mics? Possibly installed by the lowest bidder. But somehow, amid the technical quirks and confused dancersand at least one confused viewer at OnEurope towers, there was a faint pulse of optimism. Maybe 2026’s Supernova will find that elusive “it” moment once more?
