Regular readers will know the drill by now. Each week, we sift through the socials and broadcaster websites to bring you updates on what’s been happening in the world of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest. We’ll still be bringing you all the full reports after each preselection show or announcement.
Also this week
- Mr Phil reviews the songs competing in Dora 2026 for Croatia
- And has things to say about the Greek hopefuls.
With many, many songs lining up for Lithuania, the hosting team for EUROVIZIJA.LT has been boosted with the addition of Eglė Kernagytė, alongside existing presenters Gabrielė Martirosian and Rimvydas Černiauskas. The songs continue to surface.
RTL has named presenters for the January 24 Luxembourg Song Contest 2026. Three very much seems to be the magic number with this sort of thing. You’ll be talked through things by Raoul Roos, Loïc Juchem, and Hana Sofia Lopes.
Staying with preselection hosting, in Norway, NRK has named the three (see!) presenters for Melodi Grand Prix 2026. The event will be in the capable hands of Ronny Brede Aase, Marte Stokstad and Markus Neby.
If you’re the sort of person who enjoys a bit of very late night music in the first weeks of March, Portugal has your back. The 16 songs competing in Festival da Canção 2026 will be released on Thursday 22 January. If you’re keeping count, only three of the acts have said they’d go to Vienna if picked. Fun!
In Ukraine, nine acts have their place confirmed in Vidbir 2026, with six others competing for the tenth (wildcard) spot. The confirmed names are: Jerry Heil, LAUD, LELÉKA, MOLODI, Monokate, Mr. Vel, The Elliens, Valeriya Force, and ShchukaRyba. The wildcard will be announced by 15 January – which is when broadcaster Suspline promises to reveal the songs along with streaming links, ahead of the competition, which this year is on 7 February.
If you’d like a bit of stilted presentation and a taste of the hopefuls on the wildcard list…
