Croatia confirms Dora national final

Croatian flag at Eurovision

Croatia’s national broadcaster HRT has officially confirmed their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which will take place in Burgas, Bulgaria. Continuing a long-standing tradition, Croatia will select its entry through the national final Dora, with submissions now open until 29 November 2026.

Dora 2027 details and selection rules

The Croatian broadcaster released the rules for Dora 2027 alongside the call for submissions. An expert jury will curate a shortlist of 24 songs, plus four reserves, from the applications received. The national final itself is scheduled for February 2027, though exact dates are yet to be confirmed.

Entries must comply with the usual Eurovision standards: songs cannot exceed three minutes, must be original and unpublished prior to the contest. Participating performers are required to be Croatian citizens over 18 years old. Notably, the use of autotune during live performances is prohibited, and a maximum of six performers may appear on stage – I don’t know why I am telling you this, you all know how Eurovision works!

Croatia’s Eurovision track record

Croatia debuted in Eurovision in 1993 and has participated 31 times so far. The country’s best result came  in 2024, when Baby Lasagna achieved second place in Malmö with the song ‘Rim Tim Tagi Dim’. Following that success, the 2026 contest saw LELEK represent Croatia in Vienna with ‘Andromeda’, though their placing was less notable. Croatia’s continued use of Dora reflects a preference for traditional national finals despite mixed recent results and it also gives us a chance to go to Optija!

Looking ahead to Burgas

With Burgas hosting the 2027 contest, just to remind you,  Croatia joins the growing confirmed list of countries aiming to reclaim Eurovision glory. . Fans and artists have until 29 November to get their submissions in, with Dora 2027 expected to showcase a diverse slate of Croatian talent early next year. Either that or a load of old shite as usual, who knows!
