Europe can be a conservative place when it wants to be. Throw in a Hebrew transsexual or bloke with a beard in a ballgown, and you have a winner. Use a famous burlesque artiste and people throw their arms up in horror. Such was the legendary Miss Dita von Teese. Her and Ms Patricia Kaas were the biggest things in the contest in Moscow. Patricia wowed, but Dita just became an accessory to today’s birthday boy Alex Christensen (he who swings). His act with Oscar (he who sings) and Dita didn’t really quite gel and their three minutes of fame soon faded. Alex is 48 today.
